Bronze People of Albuquerque: The Series: Andy Reading a Book

by Ashley Drake Gephart on October 1, 2007

The inconspicuous bronze people lurking around various parts of Albuquerque…

My daughter and I spotted one today. This one was a little boy. He was sitting in the bushes outside the Juan Tabo library basking in the sun and enjoying a good book. We are calling him Andy.

This is the first in a series. Come back next week to see where the next one is spotted! If you have seen any of these people in Albuquerque, leave me a comment to let me know where. I will go grab a photo for a future post.

Ashley – I love seeing this side of Albuquerque – any city is so much more than just homes and real estate. We have some here in Clearwater – I’ll have to keep my eye’s open and snap a shot to send you. Looking forward to the series.- Cyndee Haydon

Cyndee – I would love to see other bronze people from around the world! I remember about 16 years ago seeing my first one in NV. It was late at night and I thought there was a real little kid on the street alone!

Ashley, I love bronze statues and he is soooo adorable.

Mana – He is cute! I love these statues. I can’t wait to show off the next one.

Ashley – what an awesome idea! This is a great way to spotlight Albuquerque (wow I spelled it right without looking!)

I’ve subscribed so I can see them each week. Even though I live 2000 miles away, I find the Bronze People of Albuquerque fascinating, and who knows…I may end up in NM to visit you and talk real estate!

Karen – I would love to visit sometime! I have always loved these statues and thought this was a great way to show them off.

Hey Ashley,
I loved this story. Finding such great little “treasures” in a community enhance every day lives. Thanks for sharing this fun idea!

Lynda – It becomes easy to overlook some of the great art in your own city. We have to look at through a visitors eyes. I had forgotten he was at the library.

Ashley, We have a little enclave of the bronze people living here in Colorado too! Arts are an important part of any community and it is good to see that ABQ is on board.

Joanne – I love it! My Albuquerque people have peeps in Colorado!

Ashley – what a great series – are these put up by the city? Thought about a map of them for the final post?

Ashley - Albuquerque Real Estate October 8, 2007 at 1:40 am

Thesa – This one is and several of the ones I have planned are. There are some at UNM that the school funded. I have thought about maps for several things…just one more thing for the to-do list!

Ashley,

The statue looks so real. You could make these into a scavenger hunt where you have to take a picture with certain ones around different parts of Albuquerque.

Ashley - Albuquerque NM Real Estate October 17, 2007 at 11:15 pm

Rita – My daughter has been posing with the ones when she is with me! That would be a kick getting photos of people posing with them around town.
