Bronze People of Albuquerque: The Series: Sunday Afternoon at the Park

by Ashley Drake Gephart on October 8, 2007

The inconspicuous bronze people lurking around various parts of Albuquerque…

My daughter and I spotted this one while we were walking on the path behind the Northrop Grumman building off of Masthead and Jefferson. This group is the grandparents out for the day with their grandchildren. Isn’t the little boy cute climbing on grandpa’s leg?

Come back next week to see where the next one is spotted! If you have seen any of these people in Albuquerque, leave me a comment to let me know where. I will go grab a photo for a future post.

This family scene “In the Park” is very touching. It makes me miss my grandpa.

Karen – It’s amazing how art can touch us in such personal ways. I remember the post you wrote about “Grandpa’s pond”.

I love this series Ashley. Do you know who the artists are? You have to be good to scuplt something this realistic!

I love this series – what a great way to see your city – these statues all have such a personal meaning

Rita Taylor October 12, 2007 at 7:30 pm

Ashley,

DO you have a lot of these statues in town? I would enjoy finding them if they were in my town.

Joanne – I don’t know who the one on this one is. I have some information on the others coming up in the series.

Rita – We have quite a few. I have photos for about a dozen now. Plus there is suppose to be some at UNM I just haven’t seen them yet.

Ashley – very creative post! If we could just “freeze in time” the best moments in our lives. I know my younger son talks about his Grandpa these days, and he never had the opportunity to him. (thankfully we have lots of pictures)

This has got to be my favorite bronze photo yet! ~Susie

Susie – It’s amazing how something like this can really touch us. That is what is so great about art.
