Winrock Mall coming back from the dead?!

Winrock Mall Albuquerque NM

The current owner of Albuquerque’s Winrock Mall is proposing making part of the mall outdoors to include cafes and shopping. This would seem like a hybrid of the ABQ Uptown and Coronado malls. The developer is planning to unveil its plans on Thursday to area residents.

I would love to see Winrock revitalized. It ailed along for years until it was nothing more than a mere ghost of its former self.

What I see the area needing is a grocery store. Certainly not a Wal-Mart, but a nice grocery store for area residents to shop in. There currently isn’t an easily accessible store for uptown residents.

If I had a vote, I would put in an open green space. It wouldn’t need to be a large area because of water shortages in the desert, but a nice oasis in the middle of all the commercialism there.
