Free Admission to NM Museum of Natural History and Science

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is having free admission to its museum exhibits on Christmas Eve Day. Admission for the Dynatheather and Planetarium is $7 adults, $6 seniors, and $4 children 3-12, per venue.

 

The Museum has designated five days during the year when everyone is admitted free:

 

  • The Second Tuesday in January
  • Second Tuesday in February
  • September 11th
  • Veteran’s Day (November 11)
  • Christmas Eve Day (December 24th)

Luminarias in Albuquerque

The city, along with ABQ Ride, will host a Luminaria Tour that will take you through Old Town, Albuquerque Country Club, and other holiday decorated spots.

 

Luminaria Tour December 24, 2008:
• 5:20 PM
• 5:45 PM
• 6:10 PM
• 6:50 PM
• 7:15 PM
• 7:40 PM

 

Tickets are going fast. As of December 16, 2008, there were only 545 tickets remaining. If you miss out on purchasing a ticket, you can still see the luminarias on your own.

 

To make your own luminarias

 

Supplies needed:
• Paper lunch bags
• Votive candles
• Sand
• Lighter or Fireplace Match

 

Steps:
• Fold down the edges of the paper bag
• Add enough sand to hold the bag down
• Add a votive candle
• Use a match or lighter to light it

You can get free sand courtesy of Buildology, located on Pan American (west side of I-25) between Comanche and Candelaria.
